Bodhi Tree Monastery of Art was privileged to present this unique opportunity to young and emerging artists from Bengal .

Jodhpur Art Camp offered a journey of a lifetime - travel to the royal city of Jodhpur and showcasing of talent to the leading art collectors of India .

Bodhi Tree Monastery of Art had organized a Bengal Art Talent Hunt 2010 to select the 12 most promising artists from Bengal.


Read the blog for all the details , as the talent hunt enfolded, to pick 12 winners, whose prize was a two month long exhibition in Kolkata and a sponsored trip to Jodhpur.

The Art Camp was held from 4 - 10 September 2010.

The exhibition in Kolkata titled " Winners of Bengal Art Talent Hunt" was held from 30 July - 30 September 2010 at our gallery.

Everything went off great, and the artists loved the event.

The Winners

Bodhi Tree Monastery of Art is privileged to announce the 12 winners
of the Bengal Art Talent Hunt who will participate in the Jodhpur Art Camp 2010.


1. Dipayan Ghosh 31 years, Siliguri.
2. Fatema Ebrahim Lodhger 29 years, Kolkata.
3. Pintu Sengupta 27 years, Kolkata.
4. Shatabdi Dutta 26 years, Howrah.
5. Subir Saha 25 years, Kolkata.
6. Subir Basak 35 years, Kolkata.
7. Sujit Das 36 years, Kolkata.
8. Srimanta Das 26 years, Halisahar, 24 Parganas.
9. Sudip Saha 22 years, Kolkata .
10.Sumantra Mukherjee 29 years, Hooghly.
11.Tonmoy Roy 26 years, Burdwan .
12.Tushar Kanti Pradhan, 26 years, Kolkata.

We have chosen 12 artists, instead of 10, because of the high level of promise
and talent displayed by all the short-listed artists.

We congratulate the winners and the 12 other artists who had made it
to the short-list of 24.
{ We need to clarify that we will work with all the 24 artists who
have been selected ; and we are in the process of organizing events
and exhibitions where all the 24 artists will be involved }


All the 12 winners have been asked to attend a briefing, followed by
refreshments, at our gallery on 4 July 2010 ( Sunday ) at 4 pm.

The exhibition of the works of the Talent Hunt Winners will be held
in our gallery from 3 August - 30 September 2010.

31 July has been reserved for the Art Critics & the Press to have a
first look at the works,followed by a press conference and dinner.

The 12 winners will leave for the Jodhpur Art Camp on 2 September 2010,
and return back to Kolkata on 13 September 2010.

We are looking forward to present the works of the winners to the art lovers
of Kolkata and our sponsor in Jodhpur.

APPLICATION CLOSED - NO FEES TO BE PAID

The application for the Jodhpur Art Camp has closed.
The application fee of INR 350/- to be paid on 18 & 19 June 2010 has been waived.
{ We had kept a fee to restrict the number of applicants ; so that
only the artists who are confident of their works,should apply }


We have received an over-whelming response and many talented artists have applied.
All the artists who have applied should visit us in the gallery on 18 & 19 June 2010
( 4 - 7 pm ).

Selected artists will be called for an interview, and the names
of the short-listed artists will be published in this website,
next week .

Application & Selection Procedure

Any artist from Bengal, either trained or self-taught can apply.
Age Limit is 21-35 years.
10 artists will be selected (2 places are reserved for women artists).

How to Apply

1. Initial application is to be sent through E-mail or by Post.( There is no application form - Application means an email or a covering letter along with 3 separate attachments/documents).
2. Three separate attachments/documents which are to be sent are - A)Recent Photograph of the artist B)Resume/Bio-data/Curriculum Vitae C)Photos of 5 recent works, with their sizes, medium and year of completion.
3. A Non-refundable application fee of INR 350/- is to be paid.
4. The time and date of application fee collection, will be notified after receiving the application.( In other words, sent the application first, and after that, we will notify the time and date of fee collection )
5. A confirmation will also be sent, after the application has been received.
6. Application and documents should be sent to bodhitree.monasteryofart@gmail.com / see address below.
7.Final date for receiving application is 15 June 2010.

Artists will be selected from the initial application, and called for an interview, along with 3 original works.

After the interview, the names of the 10 selected artists will be announced during last week of June.

The selection committee will include Santasree Chaudhuri (entrepreneur and women activist), Devdan Chaudhuri (owner , Bodhi Tree Monastery of Art) and Arnab Basu (Eminent Artist).

All 10 selected artists shall present one framed original painting to Bodhi Tree - Monastery of Art, which will become a property of the gallery ( There is no minimum size for the work and the artists will present the same as per their choice). These presented paintings will be used for display, and serve as a promotional vehicle for the artists.

All 10 selected artists will produce 2 completed paintings (oil/acrylic/water color/mixed medium, minimum size 2ftx2ft approx.) during the 7 day art camp in Jodhpur.
( Artists will be allowed to carry 1 finished painting with them, if they feel they won't be able to complete 2 paintings during the 7 day Jodhpur Art Camp )

All 10 selected artists will be presented with a remuneration of INR 11,000/- each, in Jodhpur, after the completion of the Art Camp.

All 10 selected artists will receive a Certificate of Participation from Bodhi Tree -Monastery of Art.

Bodhi Tree - Monastery of Art will sponsor an exhibition of the works of the 10 selected artists in Kolkata, from 1 August till 30 September 2010, and actively promote the artists.

Jodhpur Art Camp - Details









Essential Details :

I) Selected Artists will be paid for participation, as mentioned below.
II) To-and-fro travel (by train, AC 2 Tier/AC 3 Tier), boarding and lodging(on shared basis) in one of the best Heritage Hotels of Jodhpur will be provided.
III) Vegetarian meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner is included.
IV) All art materials will be provided.
V) Each Artist will have to paint at least 2 finished works during the Art Camp.(oil/acrylic/water color/mixed medium, minimum size 2ftx2ft approx.)
VI) The works will be presented to our sponsor and art collector, at the end of the art camp.
VII) Extensive Press Release and Press Conferences will be held.
VIII) Selected Artists will have to attend press/promotional events.
